F.R.I.E.N.D.S

I know that I previously wrote a post about how summer has been anti-climatic , and don't get me wrong because it hasn't been what I expected , but that doesn't mean that I haven't had fun. Although I've been spending a lot of time with my family and watching TV show after TV show, I'm always down for dinner/girls night in with my friends. It's nice to just hang out and share stories like we're back in high school once again.

Tonight my friends and I went to our friend Nicole's house. Her and my other friend, Pam, both go to Mizzou and because they are in sororities they have to go back early for rush. And by early I mean this upcoming Sunday. Nicole is in the middle of packing so to make it easier for her we went to her house. Of course she didn't get much packing done with all of us there distracting her, but I think she needed a break anyway.

Even though we just sat around on Nicole's basement couch all night eating candy, telling stories and gossiping I had a lot of fun! It's amazing how that even after a year of being apart and making new friends at school, we can all be together again and it seems like nothing has changed. Yes, we don't know who the people are in each other's stories because we've never met them, but it's nice to listen because we get a window into our friends lives at school.

It almost makes telling some of the stories easier because your home friends will listen to you bitch about a sorority sister and you know it won't get back to her. You can tell your home friends about the hot frat guy you're hooking up with and they can stalk him on Facebook and congratulate you instead of you having to deal with some drama because a friend of yours from school had already hooked up with him first semester. It's a fresh perspective from the people who have known you the longest.

I was so scared that I was going to lose touch with my high school friends and that we wouldn't stay close with one another once we went away to college. I'm happy to say that I was worried for nothing. Although I wasn't in constant contact with them all the time, whenever we're back together it's like no time has passed. We're back to laughing about stupid things, poking fun at one another and enjoying each other's company. All of us are growing up and starting new lives away at school, but it's comforting to know that I'll always have my home friends to fall back on. They'll always be apart of my life even if we're states apart and for that I'll be forever grateful.
